If the rose is your flower and you love a bit of back history, a step back in time tells that once all roses were white.  According to Greek mythology, one day the god Jupiter happened upon the sight of Venus bathing.  On discovering him, Venus blushed with embarrassment to be seen so exposed.  In sympathy the other pure white maiden roses turned various shades of blushing pink through to red.  

In the language of flowers, it represents blushing youth.
