This etymological meaning of the hydrangea stems from the Greek words Hydros, water and Angos meaning jar.  They do indeed resemble the shape of an ancient water pitcher. I find it fascinating that a flower from China, could make its way to Josephine’s Malmaison garden, and to perhaps a place in your garden, generations later. 

In the language of flowers, the blue hydrangea represents forgiveness, regret and 'please don’t reject my feelings'.

The pale blue is for loyalty and wisdom.

The purple is for abundance, wealth and royalty.

All these colours can be found in this ‘real touch’ feeling bloom.  The careful silken material allows for an interplay of light, lifts and livens to replicate those found in a summer garden.
