I’m Ellie Rose, and for the past 18 years, I’ve been immersed in the exquisite, sometimes maddening world of artificial roses. My work lives at the intersection of botanical fidelity and artistic interpretation—where each petal tells a story, and every bloom whispers a bit of history. With a background in botanical illustration and textile design, I’ve developed techniques that allow silk and polymer to echo the softness, translucency, and complexity of natural roses, from Bourbon climbers to tightly packed Centifolias. My journey started with a commission for a rose museum—one that needed blooms to thrive where the real ones couldn’t. That challenge sparked something deeper. I spent years studying under silk flower masters in England and Japan, refining the art of petal curling, pigment stratification, and double-infusion dyeing. Today, I design custom collections, consult on large-scale installations, and teach workshops where I (occasionally) burn a petal or two demonstrating heat-setting techniques—occupational hazard! To me, the best artificial roses don’t try to mimic perfection; they aim to preserve the fleeting soul of a living bloom. I believe in honoring cultivar-specific quirks—whether it’s the asymmetry of an old Damask or the fragile veining of a Tea Rose bud. I’m especially passionate about archival reproduction and have recreated extinct varieties using only vintage paintings and poetic descriptions. Those moments keep me up at night—and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you're curious about how roses can live forever in silk, we’ll get along just fine.
